All right, now that the sunstroke has passed and I don't have the urge to puke all over the keyboard... I feel much better. Good enough to write about the Festival of Folk Arts. (Housed, as always in the Castle District, around the Castle in Buda.)

It was good. But hot. The sun was shining so damn much I got a glaring red sunburn and a not so slight sunstroke. But I still enjoyed it.

So by now I know about the layout of the place and the vendors who make the good stuff. I also know who sells the cheap but good quality things. And I had my wishlist ready.

When we got to the square where the fair started from, we were quite surprised, because there were even more vendors than there have been ever before. I mean I pretty much expected half of the vendors not to show up in such a bad economy, but no, there were even more. Go figure.

Anyway, since the French came to visit the fair and brought their own vendors. They were on the right of the entrance in the little square, and the lady where you could make your own wreath from dry flowers and hay methinks was gone. I used to make them every year and go around wearing my wreath throughout the fair. People used to ask me where I bought it or if they could take a photo with me (mostly tourists). But not this year. I was pretty sad. But moved on.

So, we went on, and found some very very pretty Hungarian jewelry. The ring I almost bought looked very pretty... until I saw the crack in it right before I made the purchase. So I declined politely. I hurt the poor woman, for which I am sorry, but the ring was cracked. And it was so pretty. :(

Anyway, we moved on and we found another Hungarian jewelry booth. The woman there had old motifs from all parts of Hungary, and most of them were székely motifs. (The Hungarians living in Transylvania. Yup, it used to belong to us, before it was taken away, like the other 2/3 of the original country.) And since it was much cheaper than silver pendants in a shop (which look generic anyway), and the woman dropped the price by 300 if I bought the second one, I bought two pendants. One is a wildflower from old sewings in the uplands, the other depicts two lilies entwined, taken from székely carvings. (My treasures will be shown at the bottom of the post.)

Anyway, we went on, and bought a leather belt for each of us. Luckily, my dad came as well, so he got himself the belt he wanted. These belts last long and are so very very perfect... I can tell you, they are. I also got their address, so now I know where to go for more. :)

I also saw people dressed in traditional clothing. Women in the matyó dresses, guys in the csikós (wrangler) clothes... and more. Once a year it feels so nice to see people still keeping up the traditions.

Anyway, there was a man who knew how to make very neat bracelets, and I was a return customer of his... I did plan on returning to him again this year. But he wasn't in his usual place, so I went in search for him. I found him 5-6 booths away from his usual place, luckily, and bought myself a black bracelet studded with old motifs. (See at the bottom with the rest of my findings.)

And the last on my wishlist was a hairpin. I have no idea how that type is called, so hairpin it shall be called here. I went to the booth I always admired for the pretty hair ornaments and bought one especially cheap... which was a wonder, because that guy usually sold his stuff for a much higher price than any other... oh well. I was happy to get myself on a pretty hair ornament like that for so cheap.

And then we found the wreath lady nearly at the end of the fair. Which wasn't fair. By then I was nearly dying of sunstroke and heatstroke, even though I put my head under the water at every fountain. Well, they weren't real fountains, just... free tap water for all the people at the festival. Thing is, I didn't feel like making a wreath so far in, so... this year I didn't. *sniff*

We even met the woman who made my favourite ceramic figures, and we bought the final one, the frog. It'll be my birthday present, but I don't care. Pretty froggie makes me happy.

And then, not long before the exit we came to a booth where the seller was... a friend of mine. She refused to accept my money for a metal wing I bough off her, so I gave her one of my butterflies, a green and yellow one which was actually made to be a brooch. She liked it quite a bit. Who knows, I migth ask her is she'd sell my stuff... for a percentage. :)

And then we finished looking through the booths, and it had taken us nearly 6 hours to do so. Of course we at in the middle as usual and sat in the shade, but still. It took us half a day. But it was fun!

And we went home and I realized that I forgot to switch my camera back from ISO 1200, since I had set it on that for making photos of the fireworks. *facepalm*

So I'm very sorry for the crappy quality of the piccies.

And here is what I bought:

St Stephen's Day

Air parade with planes and suchlike, check.
Military parade with "huggle the tanks", check.
Museum visits for free, check. (Was horrid, the exhibitions. Glad I didn't have to pay that 2k per each or I'd have felt ripped off like all the other people who wrote in the guestbook.
Annual fireworks, check.
Annual folks arts fair - tomorrow. I hope we won't kill each other with my mom.

Pictures will be up when I feel like putting them up.

Been having some family issues, I guess that's why I didn't really realize why I was feeling so very down. Also, slight paranoia and depression can be attributed to side effects of the drugs I have to take. Allergy is a bitch, trust me.

Well, anyway. I have been happily going around and out without my charm bracelet and my usual bracelets on. I thought it was so neat, finally being open-minded and most of all, strong.

But it dawned on me tonight that if you leave your flat for 2 weeks, bugs might move in. And if you move back without having the time or mind to check for bugs and settle back in without any bug repellent, you're just asking to be bitten - and hard.

So I guess I only have my own stupidity to blame for the "bug bites". *sigh*

Going to hell

Yeah, I gave in and watched the 3rd season of Heroes out of utter boredom. Can't say it was more... anything than I expected. It made my life a bit more interesting for 3 days, but that's about it.

Still, a few observations, as usual.

  • It was so predictable, I kept guessing what would happen next. I mean when Peter hailed a cab I said: oh no, seriously, will that be Mohinder? And it was. From then on I kept guessing right and right again.

  • Peter: I actually liked him. He was less emo and more rugged and he wasn't flashing us every chance he got with his muscular body. Yay. At least I didn't go blind. Oh and the stubble? Loved it.

  • Hiro jealous? Seems like yet another step back. He wasn't jealous of Kensei (well, technically he wanted Yaeko, but still), but he is constantly jealous of Ando. Someone rewrote Hiro's character again while we weren't looking.

  • Bald hunter guy? Ehhh, so cliché. Also, he looked like a poor, starving patient who just escaped from chemo.

  • Nathan: I was sure he was gonna fuck it up. And be a hypocrite as always.

  • Sylar survived it. Again. And he has an unhealthy and disturbing romantic interest in Claire. As Claire's mother said, she's just 17. How old is Sylar again? ... pedo bear with a serious case of eyebrows.

  • Rebel: I actually predicted it that he was a teenage guy who read comic books. I had three hunches, actually: 1, he is actually a bad guy trying to lure the fugitives into some elaborate plot; 2, he is a good guy, too idealistic for words; 3, he is a teenager who reads too many comic books.

  • Daphne and Nathan die. While Claire looks on, sobbing. But ever since Season 2 it's common knowledge that Claire's blood can resurrect people. So... what's with this stupidity of the creators ignoring the facts? I mean if they don't want to resurrect Nathan and Daphne in the series, why not just burn them in an accident or something and not leave a body behind? Because this way there are plot holes the size of a continent. You pick which one.
Anyway, more to follow. But I'm about to faint from tiredness.

Break a tooth

Well, I bit down too hard and now I'll have to go visit the dentist as soon as I get home from the beach, which will happen around wednesday. If it gets painful or more sore, I'll go sooner, although I'd prefer our family dentist with all the painkillers. If we have to do anything about it.

Yikes.

Note to self: clutziness is still not good.

My first impression of New Moon, second book of Twilight....

Ok, I still have a few pages to go, but it's causing me physical pain to read it so I'm gonna post this first. Anything to stall the agony. Just remember, summary first, review later on.

"My vamp bf, who's more emotional than a romantic emo goth girl on crack, dumped me, because he finally realized that I'm only human. He hightailed out of town faster than you could say blood. Boo-hoo.

The next half year I spent like a moping emo, working on my dramaqueen-ness and inventing phrases like "hole in my chest" and "fall to pieces" because gosh, they sound totally original and sooooo gloomy!

But then I realized that whenever I do dangerous stuff, I start hearing voices in my head that sound like my totally gorgeous ex, who is as I said, totally gorgeous and looks like an angel and all, have I mentioned it, so I decided to do lots of dangerous stuff because I suddenly got utterly suicidal too. Because I should never ever get over my vamp ex, who left me like yesterday's garbage and doesn't care shit for me. No, I've decided to keel over in pain and mope for him, a guy I only dated for a few months, for life, because I'm duh, totally old now and I know this is the wisest decision I would ever make.

So, while I'm doing dangerous stuff to hear the voices in my head I make use of this totally georgeous guy who is all but offering himself belly-up to me and I hink I'm in love with him, but I'm still totally moping for my ex, duh.

I love this other guy, but he is not my vamp ex and I spend huuuuge amounts of time moping because of this fact because that's so cool and mature, and I'm the best drama queen ever and soooooo undecided, tee-hee!

So I am getting close to this guy but I also wanna hear the voices in my head that sound like my vamp ex and I love this guy but I don't and I love him but he's not my ex but I love him and awww, I'm so very confused and totally dramatic and soooo dramatic!!!

Oh and look, my ex decided to kill himself so I have to run after him to save him from making a spectacle out of himself and get killed like Romeo, oh, soooo romantic, gush gush!"

Ok, what can I say? Ye gods!!
This book, if it's at all possible is more idiotic and ditzy than the one before it. I seriously wonder about how old the writer was... or how brain-damaged. Yikes!!

Our protagonist (I wouldn't call her a heroine, because she is not a, but rather on the stuff instead) gets dumped. She sounds like she is so original and unpredictable and still almost everybody is lusting after her, although she is nothing special. It drives me nuts, because it reminds me of the worst Harry Potter fanfiction ever, the one starring some goth emo girl called Ebnoby or whatever. (Meant to be Ebony something something Darkness Raven. Don't ask, it's hideous.)

For one thing, this girl is overly klutzy. I mean it's impossible to carry it out in real life. Anybody that clutzy has brain damage or some kind of nervous-system issue. I'm not joking.

I felt physical agony while reading all the romantic clichés and gushy mushy crap. And then they dragged Romeo and Juliet in and I felt like retching and murdering the writer for defiling a perfectly good play for this crap of a book of hers.

So, impossibly hot vamp breaks up with girl and leaves her alone, and girls is still just as much hung up on guy after more than half a year. Impossible again. Humans don't work that way. Ever. But she is such a perfect little drama queen that she can pull it off. Yay.

She decides to hang out with the hot indian guy from the reserve, and agonizes over loving him and being unable to live without him for more than half of the book, then drops him and everybody else when her ex decides to kill himself, clichéd romantic style.

Precog vamp girl makes another appearance. I liked her initially, more so when she actually looked like she might be more than a cardboard cut-out of a clichéd best friend slash sidekick slash motherly figure and what else. She is the person who loves unconditionally, always says the right thing, like in any fairytale story... like a fairy godmother with better teeth.

So, werewolf puppy-love got totally ignored, like we weren't following that plotline for the better half of the book, to go save clichéd Romeo. Real interesting.

There come dark vamp lords masquerading as Dumbledore, evil guards, gothic.... I mean vampiric lolitas and much, much more. Yikes.

So. The writing style sill sucks crocodile balls, there are hardly any to no descriptions about anything, save for pretty pretty Edward, the vamps and foliage. There are chunks missing from the story, overlooked and ignored, skipped in favor of clichéd romance-novel lines and descriptions of Edward's now obvious prettiness.

Over all: disappointing. Through the last quarter of the story I have been banging my head against the wall repeatedly, skimming over the story, the clichéd, cheesy plot and lines hurting my brain.

And it's still not completely over!!! Yuck!!!!

(Btw, I'd have taken the puppy. He sounded totally normal and obviously more worth it.)

My first impression of Twilight, Book 1

"I've moved from the sunniest city ever to a small town that's every goth and emo teenage girl's dream, but I totally hate it because duh, I'm soooooooooooo not like any normal teenage girl. I'm totally different!

I'm a totally ugly and clumsy and not at all special girl, a real loner, you see, but every guy in my new school is lining up to date me because they sense my specialness that I totally deny because I'm oh so shy and a loner and totally awkward, obviously!

And I'm a loner and I'm awkward with people, but people stick to me and love me, but I suffer so from all this attraction! Because I'm a total loner.

There is this totally hot guy in school, mysterious, hotness incarnate, perfect and all, and he is totally out of my league, but he is lusting after me for I'm irressistible to him for some strange, unexplainable reason.

Oh and this guy is a vampire, old and intelligent and hot and a vampire, have I mentioned that, and the most gorgeous man on earth, so every woman who sees him drools and loses her brains, but he is only wants me and ignores even the prettiest girl like she doesn't even exists because he only sees me! Because he thinks I'm the only one, the most perfect person for him, obviously!

His family also loves me, because I'm oh so delicate and cute and charming and need all the protection they can offer.

I dunno why, really, but everybody loves me and wants me and I'm utterly, devastatingly clumsy, and I have no idea why people think I'm like a damsel in distress, because I'm not, really, I'm not but I'm sure they all think (as they should) that I am.

And look, this vamp is totally in to me and I'm so ditzy I totally forgot about prom and I forbade him to take me to prom, but then he dresses me up, has his sister to do my hair, lend me a dress, and my vamp date gives me a flower on my wrist and I still don't have a clue. Because I'm totally clumsy and a loner, obviously. My vamp bf also has to break another boy's heart who wanted to take me to prom, that my vamp bf did and I'm still totally angry he did, grrr, but yay, I am going anyway because.... uh... just because it goes well with the story."

It felt like a teenage girl's fanfiction, totally ditzy and all but whatever. I did read it, and will read the next book because I have not much else to do. I'm just a bit annoyed with the ditzy plot and story, that's all.

I'm still alive (yet)

I’ve spent today quite nicely. I laid out in the sun int he morning, then we went to have lunch in the city centre, which was actually edible, contrary to the ugly cafeteria look and contrary to the smells coming from the food stuff. There are a few food types I can’t eat due to my allergies, and some just simply turn my stomach. But I managed to avoid them and had a pretty good lunch.

Then we went shopping and I bought some thinner, brown sailing rope for a bracelet. Since I don’t dare to wear my silver stuff into the water, and neither shall I wear my beaded jewelry made of expensive Japanese beads, I had to have something on my wrists or I would go mad. Looks nice by the way.

Also bought lip balm with shea butter. My lips go drier when I try to suntan, so… it was a bare necessity.

She also bought me the prettiest nail polish ever, a deep metallic teal colour with greenish hues (think peacock feather) which she believes is the colour of nail polish Liza Minnelli wore during the first part of Cabaret. I think it looks pretty awesome and have already painted my toenails. Yay. (I hardly ever paint my nails on my hand because it won’t stay pretty for long enough to admire.) Also, I got a pretty hairclip slash hairpin. Black body with a flowery adornment on it. I think the flowers are lotus flowers... or papyrus flowers. Will need piccies to be sure. But hey, it's pretty and my hair can finally be put up... barely.

We also bought fishing line. The guy in that small shop was very cute and very nice… Overly helpful too. He was probably bored. I think I might go back to flirt with him wether I need more fishing line or not. :)

All in all, I’m doing pretty much ok, although my mom should never again be trusted to do my back with sunscreen, because she left out a thick line across my back and it hurts like hell. She also left out a geometric symbol that looks pretty much like a windmill on my right leg. Ouch again.

T is for Trent

Yup, NIN was in town.

What can I say? He was awesome. I think I still wouldn't kick him out of my bed. Ehehe.

Oh and I managed to make a few pics with my phone. Nothing big... But hey, it's Trent! ^^

Harry Potter and The Movie That Shouldn't Have Happened, Ever

Yes, this is a rant about the newest Harry Potter movie, the Half-Blood Prince. Nicknamed The Movie That Shouldn't Have Happened, Ever.

As you also may have concluded, I found the movie... less than satisfactory.
It was shiny and content-free. Cause and effect correlations were ignored and things kept jumping up and then got left there and forgotten. I felt like I was watching a movie made by someone who had the attention span of a 3 year old.

Seriously though, I'm not sure who they made the movie for. Those who didn't read the book probably felt very confused and couldn't follow the movie's plot, since important bits were omitted. Those who read the book are probably as shocked by the liberties taken as I was and hated the movie just as much.

It had almost nothing to do with the book. It had, on the other hand, lots to do with Terminator 2, Lord of the Rings, Superman, Moses and the gods know what else they have incorporated into the movie. And contrary to general belief, fans DO expect the movies made from the books to FOLLOW THE FRIKKIN PLOT written in the books!!! I'm NOT interested in anybody's take of the book's plot. I want the original.

What's so fucking hard in following the original plot, huh?! Are these people mentally defective or something?!

  • This movie starts with Harry Potter picking up some random girl in a diner, and he seemed way too much at ease for it to be the first time. Actually, it was implied strongly that he did it often. Since when was our painfully shy little 16 year old Harry Potter a sassy player and a flirt?

  • The book centered around Dumbledore training Harry and Harry trying to find out who the Prince was. There was almost no mention of the Prince and the possibility of the book being sentient and evil. However, in the book version, it was one of the major themes. I missed it immensely.

  • The Weasley house was burned down. WTF?!?!

  • Harry almost killed Draco, but there were NO repercussions. LIKE HELL!

  • There was NO Scrimgeour!!! Completely omitted. Instead of his visit, they had Death Eaters over for dinner who blew up the Weasley residence.

  • Snape never suspected Harry had his book in the first place. He never KNEW Harry had even HEARD of the Half-Blood Prince. Question is: WHY would Snape reveal that he was the Half-Blood Prince?! (Also, it was never mentioned why he called himself that. Non-readers must be so very confused.)

  • Snape creeped up on Harry in the end and didn't even stun him. Harry just cheerfully let Snape go to kill Dumbledore and then let him run off while he just stood there idly. He did run after them after a while tho.

  • There was no epic fight in Hogwarts between Death Eaters and students and order people like in the book. Fenrir never mangled Bill's face and Fleur never made an appearance at all. A major plotline omitted. Instead, we get... Oh right, what do we get? Nothing!! The Deatheaters crash Hogwarts and they do NOTHING!! (Ok, they kill Dumbledore, but they never even kill the aurors who weren't supposed to be there in the first place!!) They never go on a rampage inside Hogwarts. They leave in an orderly manner and simply take a stroll down the hill and enjoy the balmy evening at the countryside!!!

  • Snape waited patiently while Harry caught up with him and then stunned him a few times and that was it. No "No unforgivables from you, Potter!" ever shown.

  • The major kissing scene between Harry and Ginny was left out, actually, she never won the match as the catcher. Ok, there was a kissing scene when she hid the Prince's book for good in the room of requirements, a scene that never happened in the book, for good reason. Agan, WTF?!

  • Remus and Tonks are an item. It just happened without all that drama being ever shown. I mean last time I checked they weren't together. Now Tonks calls Remus Sweetheart. Well, ok, this one was also an interesting plot line, but this one I would have let go, were the others still in there.

And now a few funny things I thought and saw while sitting through the movie:

  • The movie was slightly homoerotic. I mean when I heard "Wands yout, Harry!", my mouth twitched. But when my friend poked me and mouthed it back and broke out in hysterics... I knew it wasn't just me. And it wasn't just that. I mean Dumbledore grabbing Harry at ever turn and asking him to take his arm? Hmmm.... Well, I'd rather it be Snape/Harry, but whatever. :)

  • "Gandalf fell into shadow. Was sad to see pointy hat go." Was all I could think of when Dumbledore died. From the hysterical laughter next to me, I'm pretty sure I wasn't alone.

  • And also... When Dumbledore took Harry for a spin, I thougth about the pointy hat trick. Again and again.

  • They stole Superman's hideout for the locket's hiding place.

  • There were multiple Gollums (meant to be the inferi) crawling out of the water in Superman's hideout the cave where the locket was hidden. My friend going "My preciousssss!!!" didn't help either. :)

  • Then Dumbledore played Moses with fire instead of water. Looked pretty, was utterly pointless and stupid. It also looked like a scene from Terminator 2 where the guy walks around in the fire.

  • Whenever I saw Dumbledore in the Astronomy tower with the scenery all around it, it felt like Two Towers all over again.
So... I think this was it. *sigh* Too much money, and a book wasted.

Update on the bag, Part 1

So, yesterday and today I worked some on the bag. Mostly I unstitched the zipper, cut the excess material on top and sewn the zipper back on. Now it looks more like the bags I see on the street.

I've also sewn two pockets on it and some lace. It's not done, not by far. There are some parts that the sewing machine mucked up, but I'll hide it with some lace that I'll buy tomorrow. And yes, it's the sewing machine's fault in some way, because the poor thing wasn't built with thick materials in mind. But the machine got a grade A because it actually did a decent job, although wasn't as good as I hoped, but still. It wasn't that bad. Next time tho I'll remember to get a thicker outside material and a thin inside material just to be on the safe side.

But still, since the purple cloth has threads in the colour of a couple of rainbows, it's pretty hard to find the thread I sewn with. I used gray, blue, brown and purple... even light pink. That's what we had at home and they all blend in nicely.

So. I'll sew on some crocheted flowers, a ladybug button and some assorted adornments I saw on sale on Friday and will buy tomorrow. And yes, green goes well with purple.

Oh and yes, that black thing holding the lace bow in place is a black rose made of a satin ribbon.

Thor! Thor! aka Yahve's having a field day

So. It was hot. For days. Seriously hot. I mean at night it was about 30°C and not even a single breeze stirred.

And the next day... today... Storm hit. Not just a small storm, no. It was a Storm. I was out taking pictures of the incoming huge clouds that the strong winds swept in. I got a few faceful of leaves and flying debris and tried my best to pack stuff away.

Then thunder rolled and lightning struck and it was a whole new level of fun. The clouds were rather scary, and the wind was way too strong for me, which is really something. I mean it nearly blew me off of the balcony.

So I relocated inside just when rain finally reached our hill too. And hail. Big as cherries.

And the colours...! I mean everything turned green. And the next thing I know I couldn't see the neighboring buildings because of the heavy rain.

And when I could come out, it was over, but the aftermath wasn't that bad either.

(Oh and before you ask, YHVH used to be a thunder a fertility god of a single Jewish tribe before the became the one an only.)

I'm so darn creative these days

So. Today I got out the sewing machine and made myself a skirt. Sadly, I think it's too see-through so I'll have to get an in-built underskirt for it, which means more sewing. So it's not entirely done yet. But boy, it's pretty!

And the second project of today: my bag. I saw a bag in a similar style and fell in love with it, but not for that price. Actually, the material was very pretty with ornate patterns, like an old tapestry.

But the price was high, so I went to a cloth shop and bought myself a shockingly purple cloth and made myself a bag out of it. I also saw some pretty diy sew-on patterns in the hobby shop a few days ago so I'll let my creativity run wild with the bag. But until then, my bag looks like this. Oh and the zipper I had at home was a beige colour that actually matched the stripes in the material so I decided not to brave the 36°C for a purple zipper.

Isn't it pretty? :D It took me 2 hours, but I'm so proud!

Úgyhogy most csakazértis magyrul, nyakhajlásig! :D

Most egy kicsit büszke leszek magamra, jó?

És persze lediplomáztam. Hogy szalad az idő! Mindjárt vén banya leszek. Hajaj.
Már csak egy jó állás kéne, és akár felnőttnek is nevezhetném magam...

...most megyek és rituális öngyilkosságot követek el, ha senki se bánja.

...meh.

New skirt

What the title says. We've bought it for 30% of the original price. Great sale, awesome catch. Me very happy.

here is to moving and the all-new look

What can I say? I needed something new.

So I moved my blog to a more fitting (in my opinion) address and did a much-needed make-over.

It was getting old with the leaves and suchlikes, no?

Well anyway, this shall be my new blog address and we shall see how long this look will last.

If you have anything to comment on about the new look, feel free to.

...hmmph

A srácok megérkeztek. Én közöltem Cliffel, hogy utálom. Erre mind dőltek a röhögéstől.

Welcome to monsoon country!

We have all! Downpour, storm, drizzle, hail, floods and cats and dogs. Yay!!

I'm really irritated with the weather. Who the hell switched our summer with tropical "winter" anyway?

Sam, the thirsty coala

This video made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
Poor little coala.

The poor thing chugged down 3 bottles of water and her (I think?) paws were badly scorched. But she's recovering!

I love this place!

Midsummer

This sucks. Seriously. Last night was the Museum Night (held each year on the Saturday closest to Midsummer) and it was one of the coldest nights of this summer. It was about 11°C (or less) and it was the first time I didn't go.

For one thing, I have already seen all the exhibitions I wanted to, and for another... it was seriously one of the worst nights ever. Cold, wet, chilly.

I remember that on every Museum Night we fanned ourselves even at 10 in the evening.
I remember 3 years ago standing in line in front of the Asian Museum waiting to get in and see the exquisite jewelry boxes, and dying of the hot weather. At 22:00! (Give or take a couple of minutes.)
Last year and the year before we picked underground places, like the Labyrinth under the Castle District and the Bunker that was used in both World Wars. It was nice and cool down those places. And we felt glad.
We had to refill our bottles with water every few hours and still dying of thirst.

But this... this weather is like late autumn.

And tonight was Midsummer. (Technically it was yesterday night but it's past 3 in the morning and I haven't gone to sleep yet - but will do so after writing this.) And this is the coldest, unfriendliest, wettest Midsummer I've been able to remember.

It sucks. Midsummer should be hot during the day and balmy in the evening, you should be able to go out in skimpy clothing and light bonfires, jump over (small) fires and generally enjoy the whole thing. (I left out the bacon because that's not healthy :P.)

But this year Midsummer was... like the autumn equinox. The sun never shone, we had 14°C during the day, heavy clouds, rains here and there, fog, cutting wind... you get it. And the weather has been like this for weeks. For a few days it gets better and then it's back to wet and cold and overcast and foggy and just plain disgusting. It's your average cut-your-wrist-depressing weather.

I frikkin hate this! >< Where did my summer go?

Friday, June 05, 2009

Tonight I was doing random browsing again. And as we all (should know) it usually gives some very... interesting results.

Actually, after a while I ended up on a page with a lot of... come to think of it, let's not talk about that. Like... ever.

So... what else did I see? Seifer. As a kid, in clothing that is probably every pedophile's daydream. I mean they couldn't have made it skimpier while it looked... well... kind of boyish. I mean with hotpants he would have looked like a girl. But seriously... why would a guy wear a top that shows off his frikkin bellybutton? I dunno who's to blame for this, Disney or Square Enix, but boy... eeeek!

And yes, yes, I know Kingdom Hearts II has been out since ages, but still. Now I know it was good never to touch another FF game ever again. *whimper*

And then... oh my dear eyeballs... I saw a female cosplaying as Seifer. The boobies were sticking out of the top.

Disgusting.

I honestly don't get women who cosplay male characters. Is it some sort of mental illness on their part like: "Since I can't get *insert character name here* I'll cosplay as him, tee-hee!" or something similar? I mean sure it has some kind of twisted logic to it but it's still sick.

Girls dressing as ordinary boys I have no problem with, but girls cosplaying as guys I have lots. I think I did say this once before, but I'll say it again: it should be punishable by law. It's the same as some hairy-legged guy crossdressing/cosplaying as some skimpy anime girl. Or someone flat as a board dressing up as some voluptious anime girl. It's just so wrong on so many levels.

I don't get people who cosplay as someone who is not the right gender, doesn't match the body type, is a totally different height or just looks plain wrong as the character. And trust me, after seeing some girl the size of a baby hippo dressed as Sakura with pink hair and frills it's... creepy.

Now don't get me wrong, I am not slim either, I'm not dissing anyone because they happen to be fat. I'm dissing them because they have no self-awareness that they look plain wrong and... disgusting cosplaying like someone who definitely doesn't look anything like them. It's plain wrong. If I ever see someone like that I'll point my finger and laugh.

So here are a few cosplay images that make me retch:

A female Seifer cosplayer, who's not only female but fugly as well. I never imagined Seifer as a skank. I mean there was always Fujin...

Yes, this one is also supposed to be Seifer. I can't really say why. And notice the... uh... gloves. They look painful on so many levels. Scuse me while I look for a bucket.

A male Faye. Enjoy. I enjoy it just as much as the female skank Seifer. I hope now everybody sees my point.

Couldn't find the hippo, so... here's another. Dunno who she's supposed to be... but ouch.

Catgirl... in a different light. It'll give me nightmares for weeks.

And last but not least... at least he's honest about it. :D

Whoops...

Today I was caught staring at an Asian guy. He was most probably either Chinese or Vietnamese. He most definitely wasn't Japanese, that I could tell. He was also most definitely cute and I was so engrossed in staring I didn't notice he was looking back.

Whoops.

But hey, he didn't seem to mind.

Maybe it is like what Sam told me. I'm turning into an Asianphile... Cliff, if you read this, you'd better run!

...just joking.
...but he was still very cute...

I think I'm in love.

The new fountain pen I've been gifted with (Thank you, Eleanor!) is like a dream.
The tip writes thinly but beautifully, it's light and makes just enough scraping sound - like a fountain pen is supposed to.

Also, it's purple with green stars.

Ok, there's a redheaded girl on it, but still, I've had much sillier looking pens than this one, and this one writes like a dream. It's awesome!

So... I love it! ^^

Men are bloody inconsiderate, and it's pissing me off.

Lately, men I know say to me: "Hey, I wanna do this, let's go!" or "This sounds interesting, my treat.". Well, their treat is nice and all but what if I don't wanna go? What about asking me what I want to do?

I prefer to do things at my pace. It probably comes from being an only child. The fact is, I prefer more alone time. I hate to spend a day with someone. Anyone. Well, probably save for about 3-5 people, but they are all female, all long time friends and I don't feel being suffocated even if we do spend a day or a week or two together.

Guys on the other hand never can get me into a comfortable mood. I mean I've never found a guy with the same interests, and as I have mentioned, who would ask me if I wanna do something... or not. It's suffocating. I am a loner, I admit that, but then again, is it really enjoyable if you have to watch or read something you hate because the other party wants you to?

They either want me to read, watch or do things I hate or at least can't enjoy, or they want me to do things (either things I hate or generally don't mind to do) when I want to do other things. But do they care if I'm up to any of these? Hell no.

Well, they don't usually care. Thanks to that I have to think of many excuses. But since I've had ENOUGH, I'll prolly just say I'll have to feed my dinosaur.

Tsundere

Since I've totally forgotten what I wanted to talk about today...

Actually, I was composing my blog entry while I watered my grandma's garden for a whole hour - a quite satisfying workout if I might add with climbing of steps, pulling of heavy, uncooperative hose and jumping about whenever discovering dead, half-chewed baby birds... ick!! - and I promptly forgot what I wanted to write. C'est la vie.

So... back to a title I have been gifted with a while ago and which came up again tonight... and a title that should describe me, which I do not agree with. At all.

So... what exactly is this tsundere word and what does it stand for? Don't worry, I'll quote wiki.

"Tsundere (ツンデレ ) is a Japanese word for a character archetype which describes a person with a conceited, spiky, combative personality that suddenly becomes modest and loving when triggered by some sort of cause (such as being alone with someone).
(...)
Tsundere is a combination of the two words tsuntsun (ツンツン ), and deredere (デレデレ ). Tsuntsun is defined as "aloof, morose, pointed", and deredere is defined as "exhausted, lovestruck"."

...I must admit, I do not agree. I'm not dere at all. *pout*

mothers day

Well, since I am into Chinese knots this spring, I decided to do some knotwork ornament for my mom this year. She always tells me not to buy useless stuff for her, because she doesn't want any, she has all kinds of beaded jewelry, thanks to me and seriously, I'll have to do beaded stuff for her Birthday and Name-day so...

So I had some leftover, shorter (like 1m long) silk cord, so I made a button knot, a butterfly knot, two double-coin knots with some added yellow silk cord and finished it with another button knot. It wasn't all that difficult, but it sure looked hot. Of course I'm slowly getting better at making more and more difficult patterns, I mean the butterfly knot is a variant of the pan-chang knot, but I'm nowhere near being able to tie the mystic's knot.

Anyway... long story short, she took it, showed it to my dad and then attached it to the handle of her bag. ^^

So when I finally got around to making a picture of it, it was already attached to her bag. Forgive me for the strange angle.

I'm pissed off

I'm angry. Obviously, I'm not the right kind of friend for half my... friends.

I've came to realize that lying is one of the most important things in maintaining a friendship, and it doesn't sit well with me. Mostly, because I have to use white (or a bit darker shade of) lies to keep our friendships going smoothly, and then swallow a few things from them, things that I feel are a bit too cruel. And they say they just didn't want to lie.

True. Truth hurts. But why is it that in our friendships it's only me who gets hurt by the "truth"? I wonder.

If I tell the truth, I'm get told "that really hurt" or "you're hurting me", but if I'm hurt, I hardly get a "sorry" in return. So I wonder sometimes if it's really worth it. I mean sure, I really wish to tell some people things like "yeah, your folks are completely right, and you should really wake up and realize in what kind of situation you are", or "of course no girl would go out with you, since you fall in love with a new girl every 2-3 days, you don't even seem remotely serious, not manly either, and for god's sake, why the hell do you have to talk about other women while you're trying to sweet-talk another one?!", or "and which guy are you going out with today?", or even "yeah, and you're telling me you didn't really like her because you got dumped... suuuuure". And the list goes on.

Yeah, I know I'm not easy to deal with. My priorities are skewered badly, like I'd sooner buy a bag of pretty beads than buy a movie ticket or coffee. I also know I have a twisted personality, open my mouth to change feet and I whine way too much... not to mention how much of an introvert I am. But I know all that. Don't think I don't beat up myself over it every day. But hell, I don't keep it a secret. I tell people beforehand. I expect them to know. I sometimes feel like changing myself, but then again, every time I try, I get a slap on the hand by life... but again, let's not go there. There is a reason why I'm the way I am, and at the moment I'm pretty much satisfied with my personality. I consider myself more or less sane, normal and reasonable. I could be a lot worse. (Or it could be much better.)

So back to my friends... I dunno what to do. I'm not saying they suck, but maybe I'll be just simply honest for a change next time they ask for my honest opinion - and they'll get it. My honest opinion, that is. They'll probably not like it, and I guess then I'll see some interesting reactions.

And I think I'll be looking for some new friends if they don't realize that honesty is always brutal - and that honesty goes both ways in a friendship.

...hail...storm...OUCH!

Well, I'm gonna start with all people usually say: it was such a nice day.
The birds chirped like no tomorrow, bees buzzed, the cats lazed around on the sun-warmed concrete patch in the garden, and it was frikkin warm.

So I left in jeans, a sleeveless shirt with a see-through shirt over it, for decency's sake and a light vest stuffed in my bag, in case I take too long. I had some errands to run for my folks and to buy some stuff for my projects. (Like 100% cotton thread and wooden and porcelain beads for macrame.)

Anyway, I saw the clouds when I exited the first shop, and stopped walking. Luckily, nobody bumped into me. Then I removed my sunglasses, but they still looked damned formidable. They were hailstorm clouds, or at least clouds that promised some serious storm business. I mean they were the colour of denim (the greenish-grayish-bluish kind) and I know that colour pretty well. But alas, they had already passed over that place already, so I decided not to run home, instead I went into the bead shop and bought the big wooden and porcelain beads. Quickly tho.

Then I started on my way home. I saw the clouds again on the other side of the Duna (aka Danube), the other, not where I live. But... as luck would have it, just when I was 3 stops from home (5 minutes bus ride) it started raining. And something started clicking on the top of the bus. I looked out and lo and behold, hail!

Now I knew there was a small shelter at the bus stop, and when the bus actually stopped, hails were pelting from the sky like someone had tilted over the bucket. I jumped out of the bus and under the shelter and stood there, hunched into as small a person as possible and put my vest on. The bus driver checked the windshield wipers, and they weren't broke, but he looked at them anyway... Oh dear. And then the bus actually stopped there because the driver couldn't see. But after a while it went on.

The rain and the hail calmed down a little, so I left the shelter, and after a moment or so it started up again. I had to cross the street and I stepped into the sloshing rainwater and it came up to my ankles. Yay, I loved storms like these. I was in sandals, so at least as soon as the water poured in, it poured out too.

When I rounded the corner, I saw... mist. The cold water poured down on hot stone and asphalt, so the whole street was covered in mist. And lots of sloshing water. Yay.

Anyway, once I got home, I was sopping wet. I hung out my clothes to dry, took a hot shower, washed my hair and then took some piccies of the ice around the house. Will add later.

So... my conclusion: walking in hail is so not a nice thing.

Monday, April 13, 2009

Not again...

Just as the title says. Spoilers ahead by the way.

So... of course another favourite character of mine is dead. Not sure I'd want to read more Dresden Files books. I mean with Morgan dead it's just not the same. I really liked the guy. Grumpy and bad-tempered and paranoid, he was sort of like Snape. Who was my favourite, and also got killed off.

Pisses me off. Why always my faves?

When will any of my faves stay alive ever?

Seriously... Just ask me who my favourite character is and be sure he will die soon, probably acting out of character on the way.

Oh joy.

Friday, April 10, 2009

I think I have been condemned to the fate of all my favourite characters dying abruptly (in TV shows) in the most out of character way possible.

No matter who I like, they die. And the reason is always crappy and always OOC.

Oh and Kutner and suicide? When he was so afraid of the death cat he nearly climbed the walls to get away? No. Not plausible at all.

Seriously, House is going so downhill it's moving vertically.

Where have all the good shows gone off to?

Saturday, April 04, 2009

Did some light shopping today. Buttons, outdoor flip-flops for the summer and dark pants *not* made from denim. Yay, now I have some nice business wear too.

And then... when I came back from shopping and got horizontal with my window open and feeling vaguely guilty for wanting to own a shotgun and kill all those fucking loud birds outside I thought about House...

And I thought what if Sendhil Ramamurthy played Kutner? Yup, that thought flashed through my mind and I'm still dazed. *blush* I mean... eye candy. Sure, both House and Wilson look good, and I have a soft spot for Taub for some reason (yeah, it's prolly the nose), although less not that he lied. But still... Yeah, he'd have stolen all the fans, so that would have been bad. Also, he's prolly still in Heroes, unless they've killed him off now too. But still... whoa.

Also, it's so nice, the warmth and the sunlight. I came to love clear, open places and sunlight... I think I'm thinking more and more like a plant. But as long as I don't become a vegetable... (yeah, bad pun. Sorry.)

Anyway, I like this late spring feeling. I just hope my tulips will have time to flower.

Thursday, April 02, 2009

Sunshine

Well, spring got dragged in finally. I mean I'm fairly used to snow in March and April, but yay, finally it's sunshine and cherry blossoms.

Not about to turn into a Japanese and bring out a blanket and drink tea and watch the cherry blossoms fall, but hey, cherry blossoms have a really nice smell. Also, they are pretty much the heralds of spring.

I've moved my herb garden and all my other plants from the windowsill to the balcony railing, so they get more sun. It's getting more and more crowded. I mean most of the balcony is covered in greens. Sadly, the thyme died, but that was my mom who killed it, so... Gonna have to buy another one, and soon. Two of my small lavender plants also bit the dust, but that was the cold winter that did them in, most probably, as each had a partner in the same box that survived. And there was lots of space, so... so I shall plant new lavender.

All my chrysanthemums seem to have survived, although I'll have to nip the old blossoms and the dried out pieces. It'll take me some serious shokoban to move the stuff out of the way so I'd be able to sweep the multitude of fallen petals off the balcony. Yay, go me.

My tulips have somehow, secretly multiplied. I've bought 2 bulbs a few years ago, and now there are so many leaves... Not that I mind. Purple-black tulips are always pretty, especially mine. ^^ I just dunno how they did it, the little sneaks.

So far, my herb survivors: tarragon, lavender(s, especially the huge potted ones), curry, hypericum (NOT kidding), the peppermint... Sadly, the thyme died, and so did the sage last autumn. So I'll have to replace them.

Luckily, all three of my mini roses survived. I hope they'll stay up and about this year too.

And come to think of it, it's nearly time for adding some fertilizer to the soil. And since I had my dad buy me a huge sackful of it (yup, cow dung, if you were wondering), I shall put it to good use.

Oh and by the way, ever since the sun came up and I'm not sitting in a cold, dank wintry world... I can't stop grinning. I think I'm too many parts plant. A carnivorous one at that. Heheh.

So... That's about it.

The End of the World... yet again

I had another end of the world dream. Again. I have them fairly often. I mean this year (make it nearly 3 months) it's already a two digit number, the amount of apocalyptic dreams I had so far. Dunno how many tho.

Anyway, since I have a slight fever, it had been ice age dreams. Both times. I was woken up, tried to clear my airways for an hour and went back to sleep after the first one.

So... the first one prolly had lots of symbols. I can't be hedgehogged to find out.
Me and my childhood friend went to a small, rural little village to spend a summer in a little house (not on the prairie, but close), and we had the owner's son with us... so we were three. Incidentally, the owner's son was my old classmate from highschool... who was also my crush. (Yup, that same old ugly guy. Yikes, I seriously dunno what I liked in him.)

Anyway, my friend ditched us, because she just wanted to get away fr4om her folks and wanted to spend time with her boyfriend. Actually... nothing symbolic in that one, she really needs some time off... her folks are... weird, and if I say it, they are very weird.

Anyway, I was left alone with my old classmate, and he was trying to make a chair. I remember he put it together from old chair pieces, each one from a different chair, the last, surviving part and so on. So he spent a great amount of time trying to get the paint and lacquer off.

I spent some time talking to our neighbour, who handed me a little child's toy (a toy from a kinder egg) saying soon, I will need to use it.

Also, we took a tour one evening, actually, it was midsummer evening, because there was a fair hosted in the lake. Well, actually on. It was shallow enough that it only reached up to our knees, and there was a maze. And I had a venetian mask on, and my friend remarked that it's nice that I finally have my old mask back on.

Anyway, we got out of the lake and back from the fair, when news reached us on the radio that there is something coming, and that everybody needs to evacuate and get back home (obviously, it was a tourist resort kind of rural town). But my folks on the phone told me not to, because it is already snowing heavily over there. So I stayed. Me and the guy were the only ones staying, and I offered to go and raid the shops for food and some new paint forhis chair that he was just about to complete.

When we were just outside of the house, snow began to fall.

The second dream was much shorter. It was like the first one, but the friend was different and so was the place.

I was overseas. My friend was out shopping, this one too with her bf. They were trying to find water ski supplies. I just washed my hair and I was worried that my hair dye would taint the white towel, and true, it did. It had big black splatters and splotches on it. So I chucked it into the washing machine.

Then, I was in trying on a bikini of all things and tying my see-through shawl with the Buddhist mantras around me. (Lucky me, in my dream I knew where it went to.) I even knew how to read them, but when I sat down to read it, the radio announced that an ice age was coming and that everybody should stay calm. (That's usually when panic breaks out.)

So I logged on to the net to talk with a friend and called my folks. My friend was suddenly cut off, and my folks told me that there was a power outage over there in the whole country and snow is already falling and I should take care of myself and be careful and dress warm and stack up food, yadda yadda... and then the phone went dead too.

So I went to turn on the TV, and they showed snow on every channel, and I was wondering why it was still so sunny and warm over here. And then suddenly the power went out. I walked out into the main room, and I saw him sleeping on the couch, the air blowing through the high windows, blowing in the curtains, and as sunlight flickered as the curtain danced in the strong wind, snow blew in through the window.

I wonder if I should worry that the Matrix is malfunctioning, since I haven't seen Agent Elrond around... There goes my déja vu.

Quote day, again

"Lost in a dream...
Drowning in the eyes
Of a statue who dreamt a little dream of me...

Here begin the second lectures of darkness,
As Lucifer becomes the chalice of the night.
He drowns in the sea of his dreams...
... Him, whom the statue beholds.

But here there is no light."

Lényeg a lényeg, saját kreálmány. Nekem tetszik, és én csináltam. ^^

*sigh*

Well, Obama just made our worries multiply. Thanks to him mentioning, actually likening our country to Ukraine, now our money is worth even less than it was yesterday. I don't know why he is singling us out, I mean why us? There are several countries in this region, why pick on us? Why further the ruin of our economy with announcing we are doing as badly as Ukraine?

Well, we don't. But now, thanks to this untrue, negative advertisement, we might. Soon. Thanks a bunch.

Yes, he probably meant well. Yes, he probably tried to help. But he mentioned Hungary next to Ukraine and not another country's name, and now it's our money that's losing its worth thanks to all the stupid, panicky people. So even if he meant well and wanted to help, he just fucked us over.

So... ouch. Next time, I wish he would try to think about dumb people misunderstanding things and try not saying anything negative about my country - pretty please. We are in deep enough shit without further outside influence, thanks.

Saving Luna

If you like animals, if you like documentaries and if you don't mind killer whales, you should watch Saving Luna.

It's not out in the movies yet. The creators are trying to get more channels to play it on TV, and Suzanne has been flying around the globe, promoting the movies that had already won many awards. 19 so far, I think. And going.

I had written a thesis about it for university while he was still alive, and I'm a bit sad I couldn't write about him for my final thesis. It would have been absolutely worth it. But then again, native American (Canadian) religion and spirituality sadly wasn't my major.

Anyway, here's the movie trailer, and you can go to Saving Luna's homepage and read about the little killer whale.

Oh and whoever killed him should be dealt by law. (Or shot in the head, whichever, I'm not picky, but would prefer the second option.) I mean a woman who touched Luna (everybody did btw) had been fined for 100 dollars, but the man who killed Luna got to walk away, no questions asked? Yep, that's bureaucracy for you.

Oh and yeah, I've watched the movie. Suzanne lent it to me. ^^ So I can say it's very nice.

Also, the shots of Nootka Sound (Vancouver Island) are just simply amazing. My personal favorites are the ones with the fog rolling over the hills and the water.

Here, some pictures taken from the Saving Lune homepage. (Although, sadly not with fog.)Oh and by the way... yay, post no. 300!

Not again

Why do men (ok, some men) pull this disappearing act of theirs?

I'm talking about when they just disappear altogether, without a note saying "I don't feel like anything so I'll be off the radar until I change my mind, have fun".

This drives me crazy every time. I hate it when people disappear without telling me the reason, and me being me usually means I worry too much about them and always suspect the worst.

And him driving a bike and all makes it more plausible. I mean what if now it's not just a broken arm? But then again I'm too meek to text message people until they've been gone for ages, mostly because I don't want to be called a worrier or a stalker, so...

So.

Floss, drop me a line if you read this, will you?

Ergo Proxy

Meh.

Seriously.

It's very beautiful. The artwork is pretty, really pretty.

The story is... sort of interesting, once all the bits reassert themselves in your head, but... you'll have to watch it a few times to get all of the bits.

Thing is, it's deep. Ok, the story is original for the usual anime, but I'm not sure I prefer it quite this deep. I don't like to go "HUH?!" at the end of an anime. I like a bit of mystery and suspense, but complete bafflement? No.

Also, the story was told in a haphazard way, dotted with filler-like episodes that made sense only after you've watched the anime till the end. There were dream sequences that lasted for a full episode each, and time loss, lots of time loss. Sometimes you were dropped into a situation in medias res, and were left with no ending or follow-up when the episode ended and the next one was already happening somewhere else, much, much later. *sigh*

There were some big words. French, mostly. Boring speeches, although those probably because you've got to have boring, long-winded speeches in anime, that are completely unrealistic. I got used to it. At least I had time to drink some tea and offer food for Manó. He likes dried fruit btw.

Over all, it was nice. The plot, when you finally piece it together and understand it (after a few watchings and talking it over with others), is pretty neat. Finally not the "bad guy comes and destroys all just because he had a sad past" or "vague / not so vague, but totally out of character entity gets revenge / gets reborn / wreaks havoc / saves his old gf / kills his best friend / etc" or even the usual "boy gets girl or vice versa" plot.

But I feel that over all it would have been more enjoyable if they didn't go to great lengths to bewilder the watchers with riddles, throw us off-kilter with filler-like riddles and annoy us with that "Q Q Q" guy. Man, my finger twitched on the fast forward button like hell when I watched that episode.

So... great anime it would be, were it not overly complicated to give it a more artistic feel. Simple doesn't always mean bad, you know. And this... even if made a bit simpler... it wouldn't be simple at all.
