Midsummer

This sucks. Seriously. Last night was the Museum Night (held each year on the Saturday closest to Midsummer) and it was one of the coldest nights of this summer. It was about 11°C (or less) and it was the first time I didn't go.

For one thing, I have already seen all the exhibitions I wanted to, and for another... it was seriously one of the worst nights ever. Cold, wet, chilly.

I remember that on every Museum Night we fanned ourselves even at 10 in the evening.
I remember 3 years ago standing in line in front of the Asian Museum waiting to get in and see the exquisite jewelry boxes, and dying of the hot weather. At 22:00! (Give or take a couple of minutes.)
Last year and the year before we picked underground places, like the Labyrinth under the Castle District and the Bunker that was used in both World Wars. It was nice and cool down those places. And we felt glad.
We had to refill our bottles with water every few hours and still dying of thirst.

But this... this weather is like late autumn.

And tonight was Midsummer. (Technically it was yesterday night but it's past 3 in the morning and I haven't gone to sleep yet - but will do so after writing this.) And this is the coldest, unfriendliest, wettest Midsummer I've been able to remember.

It sucks. Midsummer should be hot during the day and balmy in the evening, you should be able to go out in skimpy clothing and light bonfires, jump over (small) fires and generally enjoy the whole thing. (I left out the bacon because that's not healthy :P.)

But this year Midsummer was... like the autumn equinox. The sun never shone, we had 14°C during the day, heavy clouds, rains here and there, fog, cutting wind... you get it. And the weather has been like this for weeks. For a few days it gets better and then it's back to wet and cold and overcast and foggy and just plain disgusting. It's your average cut-your-wrist-depressing weather.

I frikkin hate this! >< Where did my summer go?
